AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine's secretary of state has released the proposed wording for November's gay marriage referendum.
The proposed wording of the ballot question reads, "Do you want to allow same-sex couples to marry?"
Secretary of State Charlie Summers says the public has 30 days to comment.
The question was drafted by the secretary of state with assistance from senior staff and the attorney general's office.
Written comments on the proposed question may be filed with Summers' office by hand, by mail or by email at sos.office(at)maine.gov.
