LEWISTON(NEWS CENTER)- In the immediate aftermath of theSeptember 11 attacks, the sports world was an escape to normalcy for many. Eleven years later, the Bates College men's soccer program remembered those fallen and gave back to those affected by the attacks.

The men's soccer team wore commemorative jerseys with a 9/11 emblem to honor the victims. After the match, some of the game jerseys will be auctioned off to raise proceeds for the "Families of Freedom," which raises money toward college scholarships for children who lost parents as a result of the attacks.
