AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Officials in Auburn say they have recovered the body of a man found floating in Lake Auburn.
Investigators say an Auburn Water & Sewer District worker discovered the body Thursday morning near the western shore of the lake. Auburn Police, Auburn Fire, Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service recovered the body.
The body was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for an autopsy. Officials say they do not know the cause of death or the identity of the victim. Auburn Police and the Maine State Police are conducting a joint investigation.
The Auburn Water & Sewer District says because the body was found near the western shore, water quality has not been affected.
