PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - This week is the 30th anniversary of Banned Book Week. The week is dedicated to highlighting the freedom to read what you like. Various libraries participate in the yearly event.
We spoke with Beth Edmonds, Chair of the Maine Library Commission and director of the Freeport Community Library about the week and why certain books are added to the list.
