OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Police have arrested a man from Old Orchard Beach and charged him with murder and arson. They say he killed his grandmother and tried to burn down her home.

The body of 62 year old Patricia Noel was found in her bedroom Tuesday after fire swept through the top part of her home on Wesley Street.

State Police and investigators from the Fire Marshal's office spent the next few days back at the home gathering evidence.

23 year old Derek Poulin was arrested Saturday evening at his mother's home on Brighton Avenue in Portland.

He is charged with murder and arson.

Poulin is being held at the York County Jail and will likely make his first court appearance Monday or Tuesday.

Poulin and his father also lived in the home that burned.

Police made the decision to arrest and charge Poulin after receiving lab results on evidence that was being analyzed.
