SCARBOROUGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - In 2010 and 2011, more than 60-thousand coats were collected during the month of December. But many groups have been spreading the word-- putting out boxes-- and collecting winter gear-- for weeks now. One of those groups-- are some elementary students from Scarborough.

It starts with a day of heavy lifting at Wentworth Elementary. These 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are clearly excited about their community service project. The school has been collecting coats for the Coats for Kids campaign for 10 years, but for these kids this is the first time they got to collect all of the donated coats.
