FREEPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Fryeburg has the best tasting water in Maine. That's according to a panel of 3 judges, including NEWS CENTER's Caroline Cornish, at the 26th Annual Drinking Water Taste Test in Freeport.
The Maine Rural Water Association puts the event on every year. There were two categories tested. New Portland won the non-disinfected water category. Fryeburg won for both best disinfected water and the overall competition.
Eric Belcher, the assistant superintendent for the Fryeburg Water Company said, "There's a lot of good waters in Maine that I'm sure are right up there. It's a good bragging right, an affirmation that we're doing a good job. and we're putting out a good quality product to the consumer. So we're happy."
Fryeburg will now represent Maine in the "Great American Water Taste Test " in Washington D.C. in February.
