LEBANON, Tennessee (WSMV) --A sport-utility vehicle smashed into a jewelry store in Lebanon, Tennessee on Thursday morning, causing substantial damage.

The vehicle crashed into the front glass windows at The Jewelers.

The business is located in a Kroger shopping center. It's unclear what caused the driver to careen into the business.

The store owner said he thinks the driver had a medical emergency, causing the wreck.

The owner had left the business a few minutes before the wreck, otherwise he said he would have been in the path of the vehicle.

"I adopted a puppy today and I had just finished the paperwork in my office and was headed home," said store owner Shawn Smith. "It was literally just two minutes before. My puppy saved my life.
