RANGELEY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Game Wardens say they have recovered the body of Dawn Newell who, wardens say, drove into open water on Rangley Lake on Sunday night.

Wardens say they recovered the body of 45-year-old Dawn Newell, of Yarmouth, at around 11:30am on Monday morning. Spokesperson, Corporal John MacDonald, said that she has been riding with her 16-year-old son on seperate snowmobiles when the mother's drove onto open water.

As her son followed her, his started to break through but he was able to jump to solid ice. He got to shore and called 911.

Corporal John MacDonald said that recovery efforts included the Maine Warden Service Dive Team, Warden Service aircraft, several Maine Game wardens and Rangeley Fire and Rescue personnel.
