SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The Sanford Police Department says that a man from Biddeford was arrested for the state's first pharmacy robbery of 2013... after a foot chase, attempted car jackings and being struck by a car.

Police say Brian Gallerani walked into the Walgreen's on Main Street around 12:30 PM, showed a handgun and demanded prescription drugs.

The pharmacy employee handed some over, and police say Gallerani then took off on foot.

He apparently tried to car-jack two vehicles at the intersection of Acorn Street and Riverside Avenue. He was unsuccessful. One of the cars hit Gallerani, knocking the gun and some of the drugs out of his hands.

He continued to run and was eventually found hiding behind a house on Winter Street.

The whole incident took about ten minutes.

Gallerani is facing three counts of Armed Robbery.
