LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A distillery in Lewiston that produces vodka and rum is being shut down, a cost-cutting move that will eliminate about 160 jobs.

Beam Incorporated, which is known for its Jim Beam bourbon, owns the plant. Beam bought it last year from White Rock Distillers. Production will gradually be phased out and operations moved to Frankfort, Kentucky. The transition is expected to be complete by April of 2014.

Some employees will be given the opportunity to apply for jobs in Kentucky.
