BUCKFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Crews from five towns fought for more than five hours to gain control of a fire that ultimately destroyed a barn.
Crews were called to a home on Jim Warner Road shortly after 3:00 PM Saturday night.
They found a barn fully engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.
The barn regularly houses animals. Rescuers managed to save most of them. Several pieces of equipment were destroyed in the blaze.
One person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
It is not known whether the homeowner had insurance on the property.
Crews from Buckfield, Sumner, Paris, Norway and Hebron all responded to the scene. Between the initial flames and wetting down hot spots, firefighters battled the blaze for more than five hours. There was not a source of water close to the scene, so crews had to truck it in from a nearby source.
Investigators from the Fire Marshal's Office have been called in to figure out what sparked the flames.
