BROOKLINE, Massachusetts (WHDH) -A Massachusetts woman braved freezing water Monday in order to save her dog after the animal broke fell into an icy pond.

"I love her more than anything, I would do anything for her, so it was not even a second thought," said Laurie Lindop.

Marley, Lindop's German Sheppard, apparently made a break for it during her regular afternoon walk to chase a duck. She ran out onto the partially frozen pond and her owner went after her. They both ended up in the icy water.

"I just ran and it was shallow for a few feet and then it was really deep. I was breaking the ice to get to her," Lindop said. "The only time I got really scared about two feet away from her, and then I started realizing my muscles were cramping. I couldn't breathe well. That's when I started calling for help."
