WASHINGTON, D.C. -- (NEWS CENTER) Can you tell the difference between White House aninvitation crafted by a quarter-million dollar calligraphy staff andone that is computer-generated?

Most of us can't, and don't think hand-written invitations is a valid way to spend taxpayer dollars.

A study by the watchdog group found the White House spends $277,050on a three-person calligraphy staff every year.Daniel Halperhighlighted the expense ina column and juxtaposedit against the most high profile White House sequestration cut.

"With the White House closing its doors to public tour groups in order to save money for the sequester, it's worth remembering some of the other costs the White House incurs annually," Harper wrote. "Despite sequestration, there's been no announcement of the White House scaling back on calligraphers."
