ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- 11 members of the Black Bear football team's senior class performed tests and drills to the best of their ability on Wednesday, otherwise known as Pro Day, in preparation for the NFL Draft. The tests are the same ones given to top-level prospects at the NFL Combine.
Limington native Josh Spearin was among the standouts. He played football at Bonny Eagle High School. He says he wants to bring more attention to athletes from smaller states like Maine.
"I want to bring recognition to Maine and let people know that there's athletic ability here as well," he says, "We only have just over a million people in the state, there's obviously a lot less people to pick from, but there are players that have great work ethic."
There are currently five former Black Bears playing in the NFL.
