PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (NEWS CENTER) -- Shipyard workers and other union supporters rallied in Portsmouth, New Hampshire's Prescott Park Thursday afternoon, demanding an end to sequestration.

The workers had been told that they would have to take one day off without pay a week from April through September. Workers say that furlough would cost each of them anywhere from $800 - $1200 a month.

The union-led group put much of the blame on Congressional Republicans, but said the important thing is that both parties get together and fix the problem.

John Joyal, a training instructor at the shipyard said, "What the U.S. Congress needs to do is grow up, put their differences aside, go in a room, perform the people's business just like the people on this island do every single day."
