WASHINGTON, D.C (NEWS CENTER) - The Department of Defense has announced that they are delaying the civilian employee furlough notices for "approximately two weeks." They say that the delay will help them to analyze how the current Congressional funding changes will impact the cuts.

They said in a statement: "We have not made any decisions on whether or not the total number of planned furlough days for fiscal 2013 will change as a result of this delay. We believe the delay is a responsible step to take in order to assure our civilian employees that we do not take lightly the prospect of furloughs and the resulting decrease in employee pay."

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard employees are facing a possible 22 day furlough between April and September. DFAS in Limestone would also be affected by furloughs.
