PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The managing owner of the Portland Pirates is sentenced to 72 hours in an out-of-jail program.

Brian Petrovek pleaded guilty to crashing his Jeep into a concrete barrier in the middle of Spring Street back in December, near where the Pirates play at the Civic Center.

Police say when they arrived at the scene, Petrovek was in the Jeep, revving the engine and trying to free it from the barrier.

Petrovek changed his plea in court as part of a plea agreement. His sentence also includes a weekend of first-offender education and community service, as well as a 750 dollar fine and a loss of license for 90 days.

He begins his sentence on May 24th.
