(NBC NEWS) -- It's been almost nine years since the last episode of "Friends" aired, and tonight two of that show's stars will re-unite on screen for the first time.

Courtney Cox, aka "Monica", guest stars with Matthew Perry, aka "Chandler", on his new series "Go On".

For "Go On" co-star Julie White sharing a scene with Perry and Cox was like being in certain coffee shop.

"It's a little surreal, it's like where's Ross and Rachel?" she laughs.

The on-screen reunion of the "Friends" co-stars gave White a chance to witness their chemistry first hand.

"When they mess up a line or something, they have like a little gesture that they both do," White explains.

And nearly a decade later, that Chemistry has carried right over to "Go On".

In tonight's episode Cox plays a recent widow who becomes the object of affection for Perry's character, himself a recent widower.

He unexpectedly gets a rival for her attention.

In return for Cox's visit to "Go On", Perry is planning to pay a visit to her cable comedy "Cougartown".
