DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine (NEWS CENTER)--The first week of April marks 10 weeks before it is safe to set plants out in your garden to avoid any damage caused by frost.

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering seedling preparation tips on their website. Thisincludes planting dates, instructions for building seedling containers and a diagram for a homemadePVC grow-light frame.

Slower growing plants, such astomatoes, celery and cabbage, are ready for preparation right now. Faster growing plants, like pumpkin and cucumber, should wait until late April or May.

Home Horticulture Coordinator Ana Bonstedt offered advice today for those who will be preparing seedlings at home.
