(NEWS CENTER)-- The Binghamton Mets scored eight runs early and held on to beat the Portland Sea Dogs 8-6 on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field. Portland took two of three in the series and finished 5-2 on the homestand.

John Church (1-3) earned the win for the Mets. The right-hander worked 1.1 innings on a hit, a walk and two strikeouts. Jeff Walters converted his sixth save, firing two scoreless frames.

Kyle Kaminska (0-3) yielded 10 hits, eight runs (seven earned) over 4.2 innings and was saddled with the loss.

Portland's bullpen worked 4.1 hitless innings with six strikeouts.
Pete Ruiz fanned five over two innings and Miguel Celestino pitch the final 2.1 innings.

The Sea Dogs are off on Thursday and open up a seven-game roadtrip on Friday night against the Trenton Thunder.
