(NEWS CENTER) -- Late last week, a republican state senator suggested that maybe the State should look into taxing large non-profit agencies -- such as hospitals and colleges -- as a way to increase revenue and close the state budget gap.

But, now, that senator is backing away from that idea. One that flies in the face of what his fellow republicans usually are demanding, less taxation.
