HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas (KARK) --A trip to the nail salon ends with a woman saying she was discriminated against because of her weight.
On Thursday, Rachel Bascue headed back to Regal Nails Salon on Central Avenue, this time with cell phone rolling.
" I said [yesterday] I want a pedicure he said no you can't fit in the seat. I told him I had been in there before -- my mom had been in here before we've both had pedicures done here before," Bascue said. "He said all of that in front of an audience."
On Tuesday, Bascue's mother had been refused services at Regal Nails because of her size, with employees saying she couldn't fit in the seat. Bascue headed in on Wednesday, to see what they told her. Turns out, it was the same thing.
"This is the first time ever. I have been talked about and made fun of, but this is the first time I was made to feel like a freak," Bascue said.
In front of other customers, the cell phone video shows salon employees telling her she's too large and that she would break the chair."
"You cannot over 250. You don't fit," said one employee.
Then, another employee said it was for her own safety, despite Bascue arguing she had comfortably and safely fit in the seat less than three months before.
"I tell you too many times. It not fit for you. It's dangerous," a female employee said. "It's for your own benefit."
