BANGOR, Maine(NEWS CENTER) -- Bangor police have identified the driver of a tractor who was killed while taking part in the city's Fourth of Julyparade.

Police said the tractor was hit from behind by an antique fire truck on Water Street where the parade had been rerouted Thursday morning due to an active shooter and standoff situation on Park Street.

Bangor Police say 63-year-old Wallace Fenlason, who was from Holden, died instantly. The 1930 Hose 5 Museum fire truck was operated by Bangor firefighter Patrick Heathcote, who is 29 and from Levant.

Officials say the accident is being investigated by Officer Jim Dearing, Bangor Police Department's lead Accident Reconstructionist and the Evidence Response Team. A Maine State Police Accident Reconstructionist is also assisting.
