(NEWS CENTER) - The Boston Celtics announced that they have traded former Maine Red Claws center Fab Melo and cash for Memphis Grizzlies forward Donte Greene.

Greene, a 6'11" forward, played in 253 NBA games in his five year career averaging 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game. He was originally drafted by the Grizzlies with the 28th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft out of Syracuse. Melo also attended Syracuse.

Melo, a 7'0" center, played in 33 games for the Red Claws last year, averaging 26.3 minutes, 6 rebounds, 3.1 blocks and 9.8 points/game for Maine. Melo was called up to the Celtics and appeared in six games averaging 1.2 points and 0.5 rebounds in 6.0 minutes per game. Melo was named to the D-League All-Defensive First Team and D-League All-Rookie First Team for his play during with the Red Claws.
