ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (KOB) -- As the government shutdown nears the end of its eighth day, more and more federal workers are feeling the effects.

One aid organization in Albuquerque, New Mexico is rising to the occasion by feeding government employees and their families.

Roadrunner Food Bank is meeting the shutdown head on.

On Tuesday a truckload of food was sent to Kirtland Air Force Base.

75 furloughed employees at the base will receive free food for their families.
