Mike DeSumma joined the NEWS CENTER team in October of 2009 and comes to us from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Before he started at NEWS CENTER, Mike was busy earning his Masters Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. During his time at the university, Mike's passion for the news took him on a year long journey from the hills of upstate New York to the busy streets of Washington, D.C. While in the nation's capital, he worked as a temporary Capitol Hill correspondent for WTAJ News in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his education in the classroom, Mike has held a variety of internship positions and learned how to tell stories across all platforms of news. While earning his Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, he completed internships at KYW Newsradio 1060 and FOX 29 News WTXF TV in Philadelphia as well as The Daily Local News in West Chester. He also covered sports on the airwaves of 91.7 FM WCUR and contributed to his school newspaper as a staff writer. Mike completed a fourth internship this past spring as an intern for WBNG-TV Action News in Binghamton, New York.
Mike is thrilled to call Bangor his home and contributing to NEWS CENTER by writing, shooting and reporting on the stories that matter most to you.
If you have a story idea or would just like to say "hello" to Mike (and he'll appreciate that because he loves people), you can send him an e-mail at any time to firstname.lastname@example.org.
