ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Community officials and area business leaders officially welcomed UMaine's first female president Thursday morning. President elect Susan Hunter joined Chancellor Jim Page at an early bird breakfast to discuss the challenges the university is facing. Among the top priorities are working with state lawmakers to create a more sustainable budget. That includes keeping tuition costs down to make higher education affordable to all students.
Hunter said the university has to improve cooperation among all of the UMaine campuses, for a more united system.
