HOULTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The MDEA has charged a Houlton man with making methamphetamine in his garage.
On April 3, drug agents from MDEA's Aroostook Task Force responded to 5 Johnson Street in Houlton to assist Houlton Police after a fire broke out in the garage and the blaze was being fought by the Houlton Fire Department.
Based upon evidence gathered at the scene, agents say they believe that methamphetamine was being manufactured on the property.
Charged with Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs - Methamphetamine - was 36-year-old Thomas Lowery, who lives in the house next to the garage. Lowery was transported to the Aroostook County Jail and was being held on $5,000 bail.
The detached garage was flattened as a result of the fire. The adjacent house was not damaged.
