CAMDEN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A fire destroyed a home in Camden Saturday morning.
According to the Pen Bay Pilot, the home was located on Shermans Point Rd. The owner of the home had left early in the morning to volunteer at the Camden-Rockport Historical Society.
The first call came in around 10 a.m. Saturday.
Firefighters from Camden, Lincolnville and Rockport Fire Departments battled the blaze. They doused the flames from the roof, from the front windows and from the back doors. The fire was hot enough to melt the aluminum siding of the home, according to the Pen Bay Pilot.
The owner said he is grateful that the Camden Fire Chief managed to pull some family photo albums from the inside of the home before it was destroyed.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. However, it appeared it started in the kitchen.
