BOOTHBAY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two teenage boys were killed in a crash in Boothbay early Wednesday morning.
The crash happened around 3:20 a.m. at the intersection of Route 27 and River Road. 19-year old Casey Dalton of Boothbay was driving his Ford Explorer SUV when he lost control, ran off the road, smashed into some trees, and was killed. Deputies said a 17-year-old boy from Boothbay Harbor, whose name is not being released, also died in that crash. Police said, at the time of the crash Dalton was not wearing a seat belt but the 17-year-old was. Police said speed and alcohol are factors in the crash.
Police arrested 21-year-old William Gerardi of Hebron and have charged him with one felony count of Furnishing Liquor to a Minor after Deputies gathered information that prior to the crash he provided liquor to both occupants of the fatal crash.
Gerardi was transported to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. Bail was set at $5000 cash. He's expected to make his first court appearance in the next few days. More charges could be filed in this case.
