TEWKSBURY, Mass. (NEWS CENTER) -- According to our sister-station WHDH in Boston, on Friday afternoon the independent directors of the Demoulas board of directors sent out a letter with the title "Let's all get back to work."
The letter outlined a plan to allow Arthur T. Demoulas and his management team to return to the company while negotiations continue for a sale.
The statement said "Our goal is to move forward, while making sure associates and customers are taken care of." It went on to say "It is time to move on."
An agreement was reportedly sent to Arthur T. Demoulas' legal team several days ago that would allow him, along with all of the employees who resigned or were dismissed, to return to work.
"This agreement would not place Mr. Demoulas in control of the company during this interim period but would retain the current management," the statement said.
Arthur T. Demoulas issued a statement back, claiming that he has been offered a plan three different times to bring him back and help stabilize the company. In his statement, Demoulas said "It is disingenuous to issue a press release at 5:30 on a Friday," and that this "is a serious issue that deserves a serious solution."
Demoulas went on to say that he has sent the company a proposal that he thinks has provided a solution for the issue.
