BUCKSPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A 5-year-old boy and his grandfather died Friday in an accident in the Penobscot River.

According to the Maine Marine Patrol, 5-year-old Aiden Bulkley fell in to the water Friday morning while fishing with his grandfather, 54-year-old Ronald LaRue. Aiden fell in to the water, and LaRue jumped in to save him. The current was too strong, and the two became separated.

Aiden was pulled from the water and rushed to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

LaRue's body was recovered by a member of the Maine State Dive Team about 3 hours after the two fell in around the same spot where Aiden was found. He died of apparent drowning.
