BOWDOIN COLLEGE GRANT EAST TOWNSHIP, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A family of four from Maine may make the record books Monday after completing a 2,160-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail.

David, Emily, Nathan and Maddy Kallin are expected to finish the trek on Labor Day, becoming the 16th family with young children to do so. They began the hike in Georgia at the end of March.

The children were taken out of school early and were home-schooled during the hike.
