Oil spill on water and shoreline in Cape Porpoise
PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Coast Guard says it is cleaning up an oil spill near Cape Porpoise. Crews worked through the night Monday to clean up the spill on both the water and shoreline of Bickford Island.
A boom was placed in the water to keep the spill from spreading.
The Coast Guard and Maine Department of Environmental Protection are coordinating the clean-up.
The cause of the spill is under investigation.
Coast Guard officials said it appears to be an isolated incident, and they did not find any wildlife affected by the spill.
