WATERVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The stage of the Waterville Opera House is being transformed Friday into the land of "Far Far Away" for the opening night of the musical Shrek.
Over 20 cast members have been rehearsing their lines to bring the fairy tale characters of the DreamWorks film to life. Director, Debra Susi, has been working with the cast since rehearsals started in January.
"It's amazing how many talented actors, singers, musicians we have in the central Maine area," said Susi.
The story line of Shrek is pretty well known, which is part of the challenge that Daniel Kennedy, who plays Shrek, enjoys.
"The movie, even though it has songs or what not in it, it's not a musical," said Kennedy. "With live stage, especially here in the opera house, I think we do it right."
The schedule for Shrek the Musical is April 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 7:30pm and April 6 and 13 at 2:00pm. To reserve your tickets: call 873-7000, or purchase online at www.operahouse.org. Tickets are on sale now for $21 for adults and $19 for seniors and youth.
