BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- A few homeowners in Bangor are having a pretty rough week after having their homes and cars burglarized all in a single night.
City police say in all seven homes were broken into sometime during the night of April 8, 2014 and into the morning of April 9, 2014. The total includes homes on Poplar Street, Nowell Road as well as Grant Street, Judson Boulevard and Maple Street. Investigators also say five cars were burglarized with most of them belonging to the same homeowners.
At this point, police cannot put an exact value on what was taken but many people did lose their wallets, cash and car keys.
Authorities do however say all of the cases have one thing in common as burglars were able to get inside through unlocked doors.
"I understand that it is personal choice but it really is helpful if people can lock up their doors," said Bangor police lieutenant Catherine Rumsey, "Even if you're in the house it's a good idea to lock the doors...you might not see someone come in if you're sound asleep in the middle of the night so locking the doors at all times is a good idea."
The Bangor Police Department is still looking for the public's help with these cases.
