BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- It is no secret downtown Bangor businesses are struggling because of that massive construction project that has torn apart West Market Square. As a way to show support for the local establishments, The Downtown Bangor Partnership will be hosting the 'Hard Hat Happy Hour' series.
"It's a thank you. Thank you for being patient, to the employees, to the business owners, the property owners. We understand they are taking a hit for the rest of the community and we really appreciate it. All the businesses and residences wanted a way to go and frequent the businesses at one time and say thank you, for your patience."
The first stop will be next wednesday August 13th at Ipanema Bar & Grill. Then the series will move to Blaze on August 20th. The Big Easy Lounge will be hosting August 27th and it will round out the series on September 3rd at Paddy Murphy's.
Connie Boivine with the Charles Inn said, "I think just to get people downtown and realize we are still open...I watch people come by sometimes and they get to a point where they can't see ahead so they can't see they can still walk through so sometimes they will turn around and walk the other way."
Attendeees will spend a couple hours on Wednesdays at each of the businesses. There will be gift cards to the restaurants, Mexicali Blues, and the parking garage raffled off.
