BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Bangor Police arrested a man on charges of domestic violence assault and criminal threatening Friday morning.
Around 4:45 a.m. Bangor Police responded to the report of an assault. The initial report was that a man armed with a knife was assaulting a woman in the driveway. Upon arrival, witnesses told police that the suspect had dragged a female victim into an apartment. Witnesses also said he had a large knife and a cane and threatened to kill all of them if they intervened, said police.
The officers tried to speak with the suspect, 51-year-old Gary Dorion, but he refused to open the door. Police decided to enter the residence immediately based on the information of the victim's injuries. Once inside, police said they found the victim and Dorion inside a bedroom and enclosed in a tent on top of a bed. Police said they saw the woman was injured and then arrested Dorion.
Dorion is charged with domestic violence assault, criminal threatening with a weapon and possession of Schedule Z drugs. His court date is set for October 6.
