BAKERSFIELD, California (KGET) --The curiosity of four children turned dangerous Tuesday morning when they found a loaded gun near a Bakersfield, California school bus stop.

Sheriff's deputies said one of the boys accidentally fired the weapon just as the bus pulled up.

Deputies say the boys found the gun in a nearby yard, then took the gun up to the bus stop.

The Sheriff's Department said one boy then accidentally fired once, but remarkably came away with only a cut on the forehead.

"The recoil of the weapon caused the weapon to strike him, the butt of the weapon to strike him in the forehead caused a very minor injury, a laceration to his forehead," said Pruitt.
