PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Mike Michaud's campaign staff said Friday that due to "overwhelming demand" they have moved the rally with former President Bill Clinton to the Portland Exposition Building.
The Sept. 2 rally with Clinton is expected to draw more than 1,500 people. The campaign said that within three hours of announcing the event the 750 free tickets were already reserved. The campaign received hundred of additional requests, so organizers decided to move from Ocean Gateway to the larger Portland Expo.
Clinton is coming to Portland to help with Michaud's run for Maine governor. He is running against incumbent Gov. LePage and Independent candidate Eliot Cutler. Michaud and LePage have been tied in the most recent polls.
Doors for the event open at 6:30 p.m. and it begins at 8 p.m. at the Portland Exposition Building. Tickets are free, but reservations are required.
