LOS ANGELES: Instagram released a second stand-alone app Tuesday aimed at time-lapse photography enthusiasts, Hyperlapse from Instagram.
The app aims to be used to photograph such Internet sensations as sun risings, flowers blooming and lines forming. Time Lapse are a series of photo frames, sped up to make it seem as if life is zipping by rapidly.
Hyperlapse is available at first just for the Apple platform, and is free. Instagram is the world's most used photo app, where some 60 million photos are uploaded daily.
To use the app, you open it, and similar to shooting videos with Instagram, you keep your finger down on the record button for the desired length of the video. When it's done, you chose the playback speed--from 1x to 12x for super fast motion. You can save the videos to your camera roll, and share them on Instagram and Facebook.
We downloaded the app Tuesday morning--and shot scenes in the #TalkingTech garage with Sean Fujiwara strumming away--very quickly--on guitars.
