I'm going to keep it short again today...because we are looking at ANOTHER fantastic forecast. (My theory, as I explained yesterday, is that no one wants to be bothered reading a long weather blog when its 75 F and sunny)

With high pressure still firmly in control look for mostly sunny skies from start to finish today. Temperatures are already responding rapidly and I expect readings today will be about 2-3 F warmer in most spots when compared to Saturday. The sea breeze will continue to be an issue anywhere along the coastline so temperatures there will hit the mid 70s around 1 PM and then cool down shortly after that.

Tonight will be another clear and quiet evening. Temperatures will range from the upper 40s to low 50s...pretty seasonable.

Most of Monday looks pretty good with sunny skies through at least 2 or 3 PM. After that, an approaching storm system will bring clouds and some scattered showers to southern Maine. Central and northern Maine will stay dry through the day light hours, however, as the moisture is slower to push northeastward.

There's a pretty interesting setup going on to our south that makes Tuesday's forecast a bit more challenging....

The first Tropical Storm of the season has formed off the coast of South Carolina. It's name is Alberto and while it poses no direct threat to Maine, some of it's tropical moisture will infused into the storm impacting us on Monday night/Tuesday. The net result will be the possibility for some very heavy downpours on Tuesday afternoon as well as some pop up thunderstorms. Either way, this is an early start to the tropical season which doesn't officially begin until June 1st (turns out Mother Nature doesn't care much about man made deadlines).

A cold front should sweep this tropical air out of Maine by Wednesday morning and we return to sunny and pleasant conditions for the rest of the work week.

Still a bit too early to call the holiday weekend but it looks mild enough as the jet stream stays nicely ridged to our north.

I'm off to the beach to play volleyball. You dress up as Goose and I'll bring the Kenny Loggins.
